Out with 2008 Hello 2009!

Well as we have just 2 hours left of this year I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!!

This past year brought a lot of change to the Detje Family. One major change is we left Florida and moved to Illinois. That is a big adjustment to us considering we were used to the beach like weather and are now finding ourselves bundling up to get the mail.

The girls have gone through so much change this year. Emily has grown up a lot and is now sleeping in her room where last year at this time she was camping on our bedroom floor. Lindsey has come out of her shell and started making friends and communicating more with kids her own age. Last year she was very shy and kept to herself.

Chris has had a major career change going from a ship to being home with us for the next 3 years. I have had to learn to drive in the snow all over again, and learned the meaning of patience with the girls. In the past I expected too much of them, wanting them to be the perfect little ladies. I have come to the understanding that they are 6 & 10 and sisters who will most likely never get along. Do I want them to be friends and like each other. Oh sure but miracles don't happen everyday.

I am grateful for the family I have and the close relationship we share!

I am looking forward to 2009 and spring time weather!
