How friends become Family!

Isn't amazing how you make good friends and those friends become your family? I think in the Navy world you are separated from your blood family for so long that you adopt friends to be sisters etc. My friend Daisy and I have known each other for 14 years; and in that time we talked on the phone, e-mailed and maybe saw each other 3 times. But the fact that 2 friends can pick back up and have the same relationship after so many years is great. I have a lot of friends who I am like that with, Cyndi, Elizabeth, Kris, Kristi, Rhonda, Sam, Jennifer, Stacey and a few more but friendship is wonderful! I am grateful to have the friends in my life who I have! To all my friends I love you! Thanks for being my extended family! The Pictures above are of Kristi and I just last week. She was passing through and we had lunch. The other picture is of Daisy and I. I hope to one day have an updated picture page with all my friends who are all so special to me.

The husbands jokingly call them the 'sisters'. Deb has 5 close friends that she met when our oldest was in preschool. All 6 didn't have family nearby, so we became 'family'. Going to church, holidays birthdays, births etc. Everything you'd expect 'real' family to be involved in.

A few years later one's sister and sister in law moved nearby and joined the group.

2 moved into the same neighborhood as us. 1 lives 100 yards or less from me. We can hear them (and they us!) yelling for the kids to come in for dinner. We've had to warn a couple of new neighbors when they move in not to be surprised when they see kids (or adults) running between the houses.

One of the 'sisters' and her husband are even Christopher's godparents.

Just part of living 1000 miles or so from the rest of the family!
